Doors for Healthcare Projects

Doors and frames specially built for the hygiene, safety, and accessibility standards of heathcare builds. Addressing the variable needs of hospitals, specialist clinics, and aged care facilities.

Specification Checklist

Healthcare builds feature a number of common necessities when it comes to doorway properties:
  • Hygiene - Doorsets' surfaces are easy-to-clean and have properties condusive to mitigating contamination. Door skins play a role in this as each material offers a different grain and surface, and subsequent ease of cleaning. Cladding like laminates are often specified in hospital doors as some laminates have anti-microbial properties that do not host germs for long periods of time.
  • Protection - Doorsets disallow transmission of substances from room-to-room in sensitive areas. This is exemplified by X-Ray rooms where the radiation emitted in the room needs to be contained within, the door leaf and frame are lined with lead to achieve this.
  • Accessibility - Doorways are wide enough to satisfy construction standards for easy-accessibility to all persons irrespective of physical abilities. A wide range of hardware is tested and certified for compatibility with doors to give optionality for accessibility-friendly handles, hinges, and automatic closers.

2. Radiation Doorsets

Doors and frames both lined with lead to serve as a barrier against radiation emitted by an x-ray machine. Door construction is customisable to the level of radiation resistance required as the core lining can be anywhere from 0.88mm lead (10kg/m²) to 5.30mm lead (60kg/m²).

Can be fitted with a glass Vision Panel for room-to-room visibility important in X-Ray rooms and hospital hallways.

Spence Doors' fire-rated doorsets feature one of the largest ranges of tested/certified compatible hardware on the Australian market. This is of particular importance in Healthcare settings as niche or specialist hardware is oftentimes requires to address the particular needs of the facility.
