Doors for Industrial & Commercial Projects
Doors manufactured for industrial, commercial and public spaces subject to high foot-traffic, slamming, and vandalism. Suitable for the likes of railway stations, government facilities, office buildings, airports, and public services like fire, police & ambulance stations.
Specification Checklist
The main commonalities in material requirements for industrial doorsets include:
Fire Compartmentation - The building class of all industrial / commercial facilities necessitates fire protection. The scale of such facilities demands compartmentalisation from one section of the building to another, the specifics of this will be advised by a fire engineer overseeing a project. This is where fire doorsets come in as a necessary component in slowing the spread of fire in accordance with Australian construction standards. Doorsets are treated as components of the walls they are installed within, which altogether do not stop – but slow – the spread of fire enough for occupants to safely evacuate. The particular setting and subsequent advice from a fire engineer will determine whether 1-hour of fire protection or 2-hours of fire protection are required. This time measures how long a door/wall will last before permitting fire to pass through it.
Acoustic Separation - Industrial facilities typically employ heavy machinery, and commercial facilities host large volumes of people day-in and day-out. Both scenarios create high noise pollution which is detrimental to workers’ hearing health as well as the ambience of working spaces. Creating workable noise conditions under these circumstances demands acoustic separation between rooms so that the likes of an office space and adjoining factory floor can coexist.
Door Leaf Protection - Doors in industrial facilities are particularly prone to wear-and-tear or even impact damage when surrounding by industrial equipment and work processes. Commercial facilities are similarly exposed to high wear-and-tear through heavy usage as well as protecting private company areas. The most straight-forward and effective way of protecting doors from the likes of damage and intrusion is to wrap them in metal cladding. This encapsulates the door leaf in a strong protective layer that serves as an investment in a long lifespan of the doorset's functional and visual use.
Industrial / Commercial Specific Doors
Fire-Rated Door Range with up to 2-Hour FRL
A certain commonality of all commercial and industrial building is the requirement for fire protection. The Spence Doors’ fire door range is built for versatility to meet the needs of facilities of all sizes and purposes. This versatility is evidenced in one of the largest collections of tested compatible hardware for fire doors on the Australian market. Additionally, compliance is assured as no fire bolts are used in Spence fire doors irrespective of size, setting, or purpose.
Acoustic Door Range with Rw Certification
Noise pollution is addressed with doorsets tested and proven to reduce sound transmission. This takes the wholistic system of a door leaf, frame, and seals into account which altogether create a sound barrier. Spence Doors’ acoustic door range single-doors and pair-doors to meet varying configurations. All are independent tested to meet Australian Standard AS1191:2002 & ISO 140.3:1195 for acoustic performance. The certificates of these tests are provided along with the doorset for assurance and confirmation of compliance. The selection of acoustic-rated doorsets includes many which are also fire-rated (up to 2-hours) as the two are not mutually exclusive.
Internal Steel Reinforcement
Spence Doors reinforce doors greater than 2400mm H or 1200mm W with a Rectangular Hollow Section (RHS) of steel. This internal frame bolsters the door leaf’s strength to counteract the increased risk of bowing / warping that comes with a larger door leaf. This is possible with both solid-core and semi-solid door builds so there is an answer irrespective of cost limitations.
Metal Clad Doors
Spence Doors offer a highly customisable range of metal clad doors to address building safety concerns. The extent of protection can accommodate project budget as specification may be custom to desired thickness, grade, and type of steel. Further protection again is achieved with capping around a door leaf’s perimeter, enclosing the metal faces entirely. This achieves the ultimate security whilst also moisture-sealing the door for exterior applications.
Metal Clad Doors
Metal clad doors for high strength protection of the door leaf. Built for commercial and industrial conditions and sheltered outdoor application.2HR Fire-Rated Door Sets (Single)
Complete door sets for 2 hours of fire resistance featuring a single door leaf.Non Fire-Rated Acoustic Door Sets
Door sets for acoustic isolation between rooms that do not also require fire rating.- Door Feature
Internal Frame (RHS)
A metal frame fitted inside the door leaf to reinforce its structural strength.
