The core competencies that make us industry leaders.
Who we are at Spence is defined by four key areas in which we excel;
As a matter of occupant health and safety, Fire-Rated Doors are subject to strict compliance standards like AS 1905.1:2015 which outlines the purpose and material requirements of a fire-resistant doorset. Requirements come at three different points of the doorset's lifecycle:
Manufacturing Stage. The doorset must be manufactured using door leaf, frame, and hardware that have all been tested together and proven their fire resistance. Since 2021, manufacture of all Spence fire-rated doorsets is to the new Australian Standard AS 1905.1 - 2015 & AS 1530.4 - 2014.
Installation Stage. Correct installation must confirm a fire-rated doorsets's functionality. This includes the assurance that the gap between door and frame around the perimeter is no greater than a 3mm at any point. A Profiling service is available to create a precise wall-opening measurement so as to build and skim the door to a perfect fit.
Maintenance Stage. A fire-rating is awarded conditionally as it requires maintenance/upkeep to maintain this rating. Regular checks by an accredited inspector confirms the condition and functionality of the door set in a detailed report. You can be confident in the ongoing compliance of Spence fire doors as they do not require Fire Bolts, and so are not impacted by the possibility of Fire Bolt fitted fire doors being outlawed in Australia. An activated Fire Bolt fixes the door shut thereby rendering it inoperable. If occupants had not evacuated in time, they are now trapped in this room with the intended point of egress now inaccessible. The fire department also have a greater barrier to gain access from the other direction.
And More. For other compliance measures like acoustics, Spence provide acoustic certification reports.
