Door Preparation Service
The preparation of doors by completing all hardware cutouts during the manufacturing stage. All recessed hardware fittings like hinges, handles, locks, and closers, are easily fitted during installation with the door prepared for their precise sizing and positioning.
The Spence Doors factories have an exhaustive database of hardware models available on the Australian market. The exact dimensions of these hardware fittings are considered along with the elected position of these hardware fittings as per specifiation. Together, this data is input into a CNC machine during door manufacture and the precise mortices / cutouts are transribed onto the doors.

Time Efficient
The door installer simply needs to hang the door with no preparations to be made as they were already completed in the manufacturing stage.
Compliance
Profiling precision assists with AS1905 Fire Door compliance wherein no greater than a 3mm gap between door and frame is permitted.
Cost Efficient
Save on cost by saving on labour. The reduction in on-site labour allows for a quicker submission of progress claims and to move on to the next project.
Less Mess
The setup and tools typically required in preparing a door are eliminated. The result is a streamlined process that cuts down on clean up.
Safe Site
A safe job site is the result of needing fewer people and tools on-site. Reduced dust is a positive for the health and safety of workers.
Precision
The profiling machinery has the exact dimensions of hardware input into its database. This is transcribed onto the door with engineered accuracy in the routings.
Making it Happen
The steps involved in creating accurate door leaf cutouts from initial documentation through to door production.
Step 1 | Initial Documentation
Specification documents are reviewed to outline the specific hardware models along with their dimensions and positioning.
Step 2 | Site Confirmation
The Spence Doors team liase with builders and installers to confirm shop drawings are accurate before entering production.
Step 3 | Door Manufacture
Final hardware and positioning data is input into a CNC machine. Doors production includes the removal of door leaf sections in order for corresponding hardware to be fitted by installers with minimal fuss.

Cutout Possibilities
These are some popular cutouts completed in our factory. Speak to the Spence Doors team for further possibilities to be arranged specific to your needs.
Hinge & Latch
Side of door routings for the hinge set in any instance where they are not surface-mounted. Additionally, a routing for the latch along the door's leading edge and the latch plate on the corresponding section of the frame.
Door Closer
A top-of-door routing to fit a door closer mechanism. The cutout makes it possible to conceal the closer from view for a premium aesthetic.
Bottom / Drop Seal
A bottom-of-door routing for the fitting of a drop seal. This permits concealed fitting for visual purposes whilst closing off the underside gap.
Security Hole
A front-of-door cutout bridging the door's faces for a security viewing peephole to be fitted.
