Easy Clean
Surface is made for easy cleaning in environments with high hygiene standards.
In Hospital and Healthcare settings (and even specialty settings like airports), it is vital to mitigate the transmission of viruses and pathogenic bacteria between rooms. Hygiene Doors are designed to maximise sanitary properties and act as a barrier against contaminants.
Antimicrobial Surface + Easy Clean
Creating a hygienic environment begins with the minimisation of surface bacteria. A door is a high-touch surface and subsequently a risk factor in the transfer of bacteria. Metal Cladding applied to the door faces lessens the time period over which live bacteria is hosted relative to a standard door skin. All metal cladding options (Zincanneal, Stainless Steel, Galvanised Steel) also host an extremely uniform surface which makes for easy cleaning.
Laminates to finish the door’s outermost layer achieve a comparable hygienic result. Specifying a specialty laminate with antimicrobial properties is similarly suitable for minimising bacterial hosting and maximising ease of cleaning.
Automatic Closure
Spence Doors offer door leaf Profiling services for the efficient fitting of door frame and hardware on-site. On a Hygiene Door Set, this commonly includes preparation for the fitting of a Door Closer to minimise contact and associated hygiene risks. Spence Doors offer hardware kits including Door Closers to be bundled with your door set and make the precise door leaf and frame cutouts specific to this hardware.
Laminated Hygiene Door

Resistant to contaminant transmission between rooms with surface properties suited to healthcare settings.
Designed for the possibility of pairing with accessories such as automatic openers and door closers.
The standard configurations Spence Doors will quote as defined by the setting and requirements of its application. These door sets are made-to-order and so can be customised to suit your project, these are the starting configurations of door leaf, skin, frame, and cladding curated for typical application suitability and budget considerations.
There are three key advantages of a laminated finish:
A standard configuration of a Laminated Hygiene Door includes:
Core: Particleboard
Skin: MDF
Cladding: Laminate (to your specification)
Protection: PVC Edge Strips (fitted to both vertical stiles)
Additional Hardware: Yale Simplicity® Series hardware kit
The advantage of a Metal Clad finish is its strength against damage to the door leaf it encases. This offers an anti-microbial surface whilst extending the lifespan of the door set and miniming risk of maintenance.
A standard configuration of a Laminated Hygiene Door includes:
Core: Particleboard
Skin: MDF
Cladding: Metal Faces
Additional Hardware: Yale Simplicity® Series hardware kit
Hygiene Doors are commonly paired with PVC Edge Strips. These provide additional protection to the door leaf's perimeter, of particular importance when applying a Laminate as the Edge Strips protects its edges from peeling and damage.
A glass window panel fitted into the door leaf in a clear or hugh finish. Offers visibility between spaces and the option for a shutter fitted onto the panel for opening and closing.
