Radiation Doors feature lead-lining in their core to contain the radiation emitted by X-ray devices in hospitals and healthcare facilities. The door fulfils an important protective measure against exposure to radiation between rooms / compartments. Different levels of radiation protection can be achieved through the use of heavier thickness of lead lined materials (0.9mm thickness minimum). Customisation may be made to the door without compromise to its protection against radiation; this commonly includes the fitting of a Vision Panel with specially constructed radiation glass and frame.
The Complete Set
This is a complete door set curated for radiation protection purposes. This includes both the door leaf and door frame. The door features a Solid Core in addition to lead sheets spanning from edge-to-edge on either side of the core. The frame also features lead lining across its substrate in addition to being backfilled (this can be completed by Spence or on-site). Altogether, the door set’s lead-lining and solidity throughout form a complete radiation resistant barrier.
Accessibility
X-ray rooms and many Hospital / Healthcare walkways often need to meet Accessibility standards. Spence Doors can advise you on the requirements of your door set and manufacture bespoke to these details.
