Non Fire-Rated Metal Frames

This collection of frames is suitable for applications where fire resistance is not required. Versatile by design as each frame profile is available in various sizes to fit different wall types. A wide range of profiles offer a breadth of options in installation methods and accommodation to varying wall openings and door types.

Metal frames are supplied as assembled systems for easy on-site fitting or retrofitting. Available in a range of finishes including Zincanneal, Galvanized Steel and Stainless Steel.

Preparation

All hinge and latch striker preparations are completed prior to delivery; Spence Doors has an exhaustive database of hardware that can be profiled into the frame. Additional preparations such as cutouts for Door Closers can also be specified and prepared during manufacture. By standard, all Pressed Metal Frames are welded and assembled for ease of installation. Knock-down frames are also available to accommodate project needs and transportation purposes.

All frames also have a selection of coatings available for specilaist needs and maintenance of the frame over an extended period of time. Zinc-Coating, Etch Priming, and Hot-Dipped Galvanisec coating offer varying levels of additional protection.

Specifications

Zincanneal

Ony suitable for internal application as it is prone to corrosion.

Galvanised Steel

Suited for exterior application as it is resistant to corrosion.

Stainless Steel

Suited for exterior application as it is resistant to corrosion. Has a smooth surface finish for premium aesthetic. Spence sells two grades of Stainless Steel: 304 and 316. These represent different mixtures of elements; 316 offers a greater resistance to corrosion.

Zinc Coating

Both Zincanneal and Galvanised Steel frames are manufactured and finished a zinc coating. This is a protectant against moisture and the subsequent corrosion of the frame. This can also be painted over with no further preparation required.

Etch Priming

Etch priming is required to seal the frame’s surface on external applications. Although zinc coating protects the frame’s surface against moisture, the edges remain exposed after the frame is cut and folded. Etch Primer is a paint applied to these edges to seal them along with the whole surface to provide an extra layer of protection and assist in the surface hosting paint.

Hot-Dipped Galvanized

The submersion of the assembled frame in hot zinc. This ensures a complete frame sealing for the ultimate protection against corrosion. Typically reserved for applications with extreme corrosion risk.

Installation

Built for Purpose

Pressed Metal Frames may be specified in an Acoustic Door Set; capable of delivering an acoustic rating of up to:

- Rw 47 for a Single Door set

- Rw 42 for a Pair Door set.

- Rw 50 for an Interconnecting Fire Door set.

Profiles available which feature a return to fit a Euroseal or approved seal specific to Pyropanel for sealing of the door set. During installation, the frame must be backfilled to host a solid construction throughout.

Pressed Metal Frames are capable of being specified in a Radiation Door Set for the likes of X-Ray rooms in Healthcare settings. Spence Doors manufacture the frame with an additional layer of lead lining within the frame to resist the passage of X-rays and Gamma rays through its body. Paired with a lead-lined door leaf, the frame plays an integral role in fulfilling the requirements of a Radiation Door Set.
