Cladding

Metal clad doors are suited to commercial and industrial conditions where the door leaf requires significant protection against damage. Metal cladding also acts as a protectant against the elements in order to fulfil sheltered outdoor applications.

Optionality in metal material, thickness, and covering provides the ability to build the appropriate door for your application whilst fitting into project scope and budget.

Fire Door Fitting

Metal cladding is suited to Spence’s Fire Doors with a series of fire-rated door set configurations tested and certified with metal cladding. The metal surface also hosts non-combustible properties to increase the door’s heat threshold to ignite.

Hygienic

Metal facings have the added benefit of a uniform and easy-to-clean surface. Metal does not host live germs for the same period as standard door skins. This is an advantage for settings where hygiene is imperative like hospital / healthcare or building with quarantined compartments like airports.

Configurations

The variations of metal capping to accommodate the extent of protection the door requires.

Metal sheets applied from edge-to-edge on the door faces and closed off with capping along the perimeter. This extends the mitigation of impact damage and visual degradation beyond the faces to also protect the door's sides. By concealing the sides, the edges are protected from damage like chipping as well as allaying any safety concerns of an exposed metal edge.

Capping is also imperative for outdoor application; completely encasing the door leaf protects it against moisture in the air and thereby weather seals the door leaf.

There are two methods of capping defined by the door set's purpose. Standard capping is suitable for any standard metal clad door fitted for purposes of door leaf protection, non-combustability, weathersealing, and more. Two-tray method capping is specially designed for anti-ligature purposes for fitting in healthcare / hospital buildings as this capping leaves no exposed or grabbable edges.

Custom partial cladding specified to the covering area required. This is useful for cost efficiency where a full facing is not necessary however a specific section of the door is susceptible to damage, this typically comes in the form of Kick Plates along the door's lower face. These can be fitted in one of those ways - surface mounted onto the skin or recessed to sit flush with the skin after plaining the skin down.

Door Width: 920mm – 1500mm width for Rw 33 or 920mm - 1020mm width for Rw 34 - 40.

Vision Panel
A window fitted to the door face for visibility between rooms. Options available for glass finish and thickness.
